December 31, 2009: December Round-up:B36 Tórshavn make high profile signings at the end of the year as they acquire Hjalgrím Elttør and Serb Dimitrije Jankovic. Bogi Løkin joins BK Frem in the Danish 1st division and is labelled "one of the biggest talents" at the club by their coach Christian Andersen. Faroe Islands, "the Fast Food Nation".
November 30, 2009: November Round-Up:
Champions HB Tórshavn name Kristiján Guðmundsson from Iceland as new coach while B36 Tórshavn re-appoint Sigfríður Clementsen as coach. Otherwise November has been extremely quiet.
November 21, 2009: U21 Qualifying round:
Edmundsson’s strike earns a draw for the Faroese Under 21 against Andorra.
November 18, 2009: U21 Qualifying round:
The Faroe Islands’ under-21 team continues to impress as they today got the better of Latvia with a second half goal from giant-killer Jóan Símun Edmundsson.
November 06, 2009: October Round-Up:
Finally the October roundup is ready. In this edition: Faroe Islands are October's "Best Mover" on FIFA's Wolrd Ranking List. But it costs the Football Association a fortune. But do they have any idea of how the FIFA rankings are calculated? We'll take a look at how it works. And then there is a bunch of transfer news and such.
October 14, 2009: World Cup 2010 Qualifier, Group 7:
A late headed goal from Egil á Bø gave the Faroe Islands a glimmer of hope for an equalizer against Rumania, but hope was short-lived as Rumania restored their two-goal cushion four minutes later.
October 13, 2009: U21 Qualifying round:
The Faroe Islands lose 3-0 away to Rumania who go top of the leader-board.
October 10, 2009: World Cup 2010 Qualifier, Group 7:
France down the Faroe Islands 5-0 after 90 minutes of power-play (Includes video highlights).
October 10, 2009: U21 Qualifying round:
Russia beat the Faroe Islands 2-0 to get their revenge for their humiliating 1-0 loss in the Faroe Islands in June, but the Faroes had chances for an equalizer before Russia cemented the win with an added-time goal.
October 05, 2009: Player of the Year Awards 2009:
Fróði Benjaminsen, HB Tórshavn, is handed Player of the Year award 2009.
October 03, 2009: Round 27 of the Vodafone Division:
B68 Toftir lose out on a European place as they concede a late equalizer against B36 Tórshavn while NSÍ Runavík beat ÍF Fuglafjørður to secure European football next season.
September 30, 2009: September Round-Up:
Not a whole lot in September’s round up, but a bit of this and a bit of that, though, such as all-time top scorer for the Faroese national team Rógvi Jacobsen (with 10 goals) has been recalled to the 22 man squad which travels to France and Rumania in October.
September 27, 2009: Round 26 of the Vodafone Division:
HB Tórshavn win their 20th Faroese championship by beating KÍ Klaksvík who most likely will be relegated.
September 26, 2009: 1st division news:
In the penultimate round of the first division, VB/Sumba and B71 Sandoy have secured promotion to the Vodafone Division with victories over MB Miðvágur and HB Tórshavn, respectively.
September 20, 2009: Round 25 of the Vodafone Division:
HB Tórshavn denied title celebrations again as they in the end are outclassed by ÍF Fuglafjørður. 07 Vestur are relegated as they are defeated by KÍ Klaksvík who cling on to their hope.
September 16, 2009: Round 24 of the Vodafone Division:
HB Tórshavn's title party postponed again as they are held to 1-1 by AB Argir. KÍ Klaksvík still breathe as they beat B68 Toftir while B36 Tórshavn lose and 07 Vestur draw.
September 12 & 13, 2009: Round 23 of the Vodafone Division:
B36 take a giant leap away from the relegation threat as they beat HB in the Tórshavn derby. 07 Vestur drop 6 points below the relegation line as they are beaten by in-form AB Argir. ÍF Fuglafjørður look safe as they down KÍ Klaksvík who are running out of options.
September 09, 2009: World Cup 2010 Qualifier, Group 7:
With a 2-1 win over Lithuania at Svangaskarð Stadium in Toftir, the Faroe Islands won their first competitive international since 2001 when they beat Luxembourg at Svangaskarð Stadium (Includes video highlights).
September 09, 2009: U21 Qualifying round:
Latvia score after 38 seconds and beat the Faroe Islands 3-1.
September 07, 2009: (Delayed) August Round-Up:
Faroe Islands vs. Lithuania moved from Tórsvøllur in Tórshavn to Svangaskarð in Toftir. Foreign coaches treated differently than Faroese coaches. KÍ Klaksvík appoint Petur Mohr as new head coach in a desperate move to avoid relegation. Sigfríður Clementsen becomes assistant coach at B36 Tórshavn. VB/Sumba becomes FC Suðuroy.
September 05, 2009: World Cup 2010 Qualifier, Group 7:
No Faroese “Austria-shock” this time around as Austria take a 1st minute lead and go on to easily beat the Faroe Islands 3-1 (Includes video highlights).
September 05, 2009: U21 Qualifying round:
Faroe Islands' Under-21 team keeps impressing; this time with a 1-1 draw with Moldova.
August 30 & 31, 2009: Round 22 of the Vodafone Division:
As EB/Streymur and NSÍ Runavík draw on Monday, HB Tórshavn only need two wins in their 5 remaining games to clinch the title. League leaders HB Tórshavn held to 1-1 by Víkingur. The relegation battle is wide open as 07 Vestur beat B36 to climb out of the last place in the table, while KÍ Klaksvík get a point against AB Argir.
August 26, 2009: Round 15 of the Vodafone Division:
EB/Streymur break 3 points clear in the runners up position after their 4th victory in succession after beating B36 3-1 in this evening’s postponed match from mid-July.
August 22 & 23, 2009: Round 21 of the Vodafone Division:
B36 Tórshavn beat KÍ Klaksvík who are staring relegation right in the face. 07 Vestur still breathe as they beat Víkingur 3-2.
August 19, 2009: Round 20 of the Vodafone Division:
EB/Streymur beat HB with stoppage time goal, but as nearest title-rivals fail to win, the loss has no consequences for HB. In the bottom of the table KÍ klaksvík beat Víkingur to move within 1 point of B36 Tórshavn in the crucial 8th place.
August 15 & 16, 2009: Round 19 of the Vodafone Division:
HB Tórshavn beat B68 Toftir to go 10 points clear. Strugglers KÍ Klaksvík lead 2-0 at half time, but NSÍ Runavík win with 3 second half goals. ÍF Fuglafjørður take a huge step from relegation by beating Víkingur. EB/Streymur beat bottom team 07 Vestur in stoppage time. With their third win in succession, AB Argir virtually secure their seat in the top flight as they beat B36 Tórshavn who are in real danger of relegation.
August 12, 2009: World Cup 2010 Qualifier, Group 7:
The Faroe Islands lose by a single goal to France who were given a last-minute scare when Jákup á Borg’s header went just wide (Includes video highlights).
August 06 & 08, 2009: Round 18 of the Vodafone Division:
Víkingur leapfrog B68 Toftir to take second place in the table as B68 lose to 07 Vestur. ÍF Fuglafjørður bettered their chances of avoiding relegation with an easy win over lackluster EB/Streymur. And AB Argir look clean and dry as they beat NSÍ Runavík. Hard-fought victory for HB Tórshavn against KÍ Klaksvík who fume after controversial goals.
August 05, 2009: Round 16 of the Vodafone Division:
HB are best off as B68 Toftir and Víkingur draw in this evening’s hardplayed postponed match. AB Argir get 3 massive points as they beat EB/Streymur.
August 02 & 03, 2009: Round 17 of the Vodafone Division:
NSÍ Runavík without top scorer Karoly Potemkin easily beat ÍF Fuglafjørður 4-1. Unconvincing HB Tórshavn edge past 07 Vestur. Rampant EB/Streymur with new coach down KÍ Klaksvík 7-0. B68 Toftir stay in the hunt with a convincing win over B36 Tórshavn and Cup winners Víkingur just do enough to beat AB Argir.
July 31, 2009: July Round-Up:
As important things have happened since the early July-roundup a week ago, we have made a short update with some important stories; for example that EB/Streymur sacked their coaches after their cup final loss on Wednesday.
July 29, 2009: The Cup Competition – The Final:
Víkingur beat EB/Streymur 3-2 in a thrilling final.
July 26 & August 05, 2009: Round 16 of the Vodafone Division:
HB's once commanding lead is shrinking as they draw for the 3rd time in succession while KÍ are back in it after a win over 07 Vestur who looks sure to be relegated.
July 26, 2009: July Round-Up:
In this mont's update there are only transfer's and signings. The transfer window closes on 27 July. Hjalgrím Elttør and Høgni Madsen leave NSÍ Runavík for KÍ Klaksvík. EB/Streymur's captain Egil á Bø stops at EB/Streymur.
July 23, 2009, UEFA Europa League, 2nd qualifying round, 2nd leg:
HB Tórshavn rue missed chances as they lose unnecessary much when a draw looked possible against AC Omonia.
July 21, 2009, UEFA Champions League, 2nd qualifying round, 2nd leg:
EB/Streymur lose 3-0 in Nicosia and 5-0 in aggregate over the two legs against Apoel.
July 18 & 19; June 27, 2009: Round 15 of the Vodafone Division:
B68 Toftir beat KÍ Klaksvík to reclaim 2nd spot in the table. Víkingur beat NSÍ Runavík to take provisional 2nd spot.
19 June: League leaders HB Tórshavn held by AB Argir in dull stalemate.
July 16, 2009, UEFA Europa League, 2nd qualifying round, 1st leg:
HB Tóshavn lose 4-0 in their 1st leg Europa League qualifying match against AC Omonia from Cyprus who scored twice in the opening 11 minutes (video of the 4 goals).
July 14, 2009, UEFA Champions League, 2nd qualifying round, 1st leg:
Faroese champions EB/Streymur were no match for the Cypriote champions Apoel Nicosia who were in full control from start to finish – except from two incidents where EB/Streymur got close to scoring (video highlights).
July 09, 2009, UEFA Europa League, 1st qualifying round, 2nd leg:
NSÍ Runavík looked to have done enough for a draw away to Rosenborg, but all ended in vein as the Norwegians scored twice in stoppage time (video highlights). B36 Tórshavn's task of making up their two-goal disadvantage became impossible when they conceded after only 5 minutes.
July 02, 2009, UEFA Europa League, 1st qualifying round, 1st leg:
Late second goal from Georgian side FC Olimpi Rustavi makes B36 Tórshavns’s chances of progress slim. Whatever the result, the match does have historic proportions as it was the first ever match in the new UEFA Europa League. In Gundadalur Stadium in Tórshavn, Rosenborg comfortably beat NSÍ Runavík 3-0 this evening (video highlights).
June 30, 2009: June Round-Up:
This month’s update is mostly about transfers and signings as the transfer window is open during the summer break. – The window closes on 27 July. For example Tódi Jónsson re-joins KÍ Klaksvík 17 years after he left them.
June 27, 2009: Round 15 of the Vodafone Division:
League leaders HB Tórshavn held by AB Argir in dull stalemate.
June 24 & 25, 2009: Round 14 of the Vodafone Division:
HB Tórshavn stay 8 points clear after 2-2 draw in the local derby against B36 Tórshavn while B68 Toftir climb to second position after a 2-2 draw with NSÍ Runavík. KÍ Klaksvík's fight back continues with a stoppage time winner over ÍF Fuglafjørður. AB Argir could get in trouble after a goalless draw away to 07 Vestur.
June: 23, 2009: European Cup Preview:
The draw for the two European Cup tournaments was held yesterday and both EB/Streymur and HB Tórshavn will face Cypriot opposition while NSÍ Runavík face Norwegian side Rosenborg, a regular in the champions league group-stage. And as usual there is also an opponent waiting in Georgia whom B36 Tórshavn will have the honour of meeting.
June 20 & 21, 2009: Round 13 of the Vodafone Division:
HB Tórshavn extend their lead to 8 points after 3-2 win over Víkingur. Troubled KÍ Klaksvík get their first victory of the season. B68 Toftir climb to 3rd place with the same number of points as Víkingur. NSÍ Runavík's title challenge is fading as they lose for the second time in succession. B36 Tórshavn win their first match since round 4 with a stoppage time winner against 07 Vestur who look doomed.
June 17, 2009: Round 12 of the Vodafone Division:
HB Tórshavn open up a 5 point gap in the table as they beat NSÍ Runavík 5-2 while Víkingur are held to goalless draw by 07 Vestur.
June 13 & 14, 2009: Round 11 of the Vodafone Division:
HB Tórshavn stay 3 points clear on top of the table as they beat defending champions EB/Streymur who can wave goodbye to their title as they drop 10 points behind. Víkingur have an easy win over KÍ Klaksvík who might be "heading for disaster". B68 Toftir, who haven’t lost since round 4, find it relatively easy against AB Argir.
June 10, 2009: World Cup 2010 Qualifier, Group 7:
The Faroe Islands rue missed 1st half opportunities as they lose 2-0 against Serbia who took the lead with a 44th minute goal.
June 09, 2009: U21 Qualifying round:
Faroe Islands U21 stun Russia with a first minute goal and keep tight for the remaining 89 minutes to record a sensational victory.
June 06, 2009: U21 Qualifying round:
Faroe Islands under-21 open their campain with a 4-0 defeat to impressive Rumania.
June 01, 2009: Round 10 of the Vodafone Division:
League leaders HB Tórshavn throw a 3-1 lead overboard in the last 20 minutes of the match against B68 Tofir. 07 Vestur take the lead against EB/Streymur 3 times but still lose. B36 lose for the 4th time in succession while Víkingur and NSÍ Runavík cut the lead to HB in top spot to 3 points.
May 31, 2009: May Round-Up:
Brian Kerr selects his first Faroese squad; several surprises. Jón Rói Jacobsen retires from the national team. Interview with B36 striker Sam Malson. Former KÍ Klaksvík coach Tony Paris sues his old club. You a KÍ Klaksvík fan? Then get your name written into their history book.
May 28, 2009: Cup Semi-finals, 2nd leg:
Víkingur comfortably beat ÍF Fuglafjørður to reach their first cup final where they meet EB/Streymur who met stiff opposition from AB Argir.
May 24 & 25, 2009: Round 09 of the Vodafone Division:
Víkingur climb to 2nd place in the table after great comeback against B36 in the last 15 minutes of the match. HB Tórshavn beat KÍ and open up a 5 goint gap on top of the table as NSÍ Runavík surprisingly are beaten by AB Argir.
May 21, 2009: Round 08 of the Vodafone Division:
HB Tórshavn beat resilient relegation-threatened 07 Vestur to stay 2 points clear of NSÍ Runavík in second place. Champions EB/Streymur fail to win for the third time in succession.
May 17, 2009: Round 07 of the Vodafone Division:
HB Tórshavn hold on to top spot in the table with comprehensive win over ÍF Fuglafjørður.
May 13, 2009: Cup Semi-finals, 1st leg:
AB Argir managed a draw against cup holders EB/Streymur while Víkingur beat ÍF Fuglafjørður on away soil.
May 09 & 10, 2009: Round 06 of the Vodafone Division:
NSÍ Runavík rue missed first-half chances as Víkingur snatch victory in stoppage time.
May 04, 2009: The Cup Competition:
The draw for the semi-finals of the Cup competition was made today. Cup holders EB/Streymur face AB Argir while ÍF Fuglafjørður meet Víkingur in the local derby in the two two-legged semi-finals.
May 03 & 04, 2009: Round 05 of the Vodafone Division:
Leaders NSÍ Runavík are held to a draw by B68 Toftir, as are HB Tórshavn by B36 Tórshavn.
May 01, 2009: APRIL Round-Up:
Goalkeeper Gunnar Nielsen breaks his hand and is out of the World Cup qualifier against Serbia in June. This gives Jákup Mikkelsen - who had announced his retirement from international football - a chance for a comeback. And just for a laugh, we have a funny video with an imitation of new Faroe Islands coach Brian Kerr.
April 29, 2009: Cup Quarter-finals:
Cup Holders EB/Streymur need 85 minutes to get the better of 1st division side FC Hoyvík. HB Tórshavn are ousted by Víkingur, while AB Argir win on penalties against 1st division side TB Tvøroyri. ÍF Fuglafjørður beat 07 Vestur.
April 26, 2009: Round 04 of the Vodafone Division:
NSÍ Runavík beat champions EB/Streymur 4-3 to top the table . ÍF Fuglafjørður and 07 Vestur both win to get their first points of the season.
April 17-20, 2009: Round 03 of the Vodafone Division:
NSÍ Runavík come from behind to beat HB Tórshavn. B36 still have maximum points after beating KÍ Klalsvík. AB Argir get 3 vital points against ÍF Fuglafjørður who are still pointless. EB/Streymur have no problems in beating B68 Toftir. Víkingur beat newly promoted 07 Vestur 6-2 on Friday evening.
April 14, 2009: The Cup Competition:
The draw for the quarter finals of the Cup competition was made today. Holders EB/Streymur get an easy passage to the semis by meeting 1st division club FC Hoyvík. See the full draw here.
April 13, 2009: Round 02 of the Vodafone Division:
HB Tórshavn beat defending champions EB/Streymur.
April 09, 2009: Round 01 of the Cup competition:
Cup holders EB/Streymur are safely through after beating VB/Sumba 4-0, but last year’s losing cup finalist B36 Tórshavn are ousted by 1st division club TB Tvøroyri. Top division clubs NSÍ Runavík, KÍ Klaksvík and B68 Toftir crash out after losing to HB Tórshavn, 07 Vestur and AB Argir, respectively.
April 06, 2009: National Team:
Former Republic of Ireland manager Brian Kerr has been named new coach for the Faroe Islands on a-two-and-a-half year contract (Includes a video interview with Brian Kerr about his new coaching job for the Faroes).
April 03-05, 2009: Round 01 of the Vodafone Division:
Brima Koroma shines in his debut as B36 Tórshavn beat newcomers AB Argir. And title holders EB/Streymur start their campaign in winning ways by beating newly promoted 07 Vestur. HB Tórshavn struggle to beat B68 Toftir. NSÍ Runavík held 1-1 by KÍ klaksvík. Víkingur beat neighbours ÍF Fuglafjørður in the league opener on Friday evening.
April 03, 2009: Vodafone Division 2009 Preview:
The Vodafone Division gets underway on this Friday evening, 3 April. But who is the favorite to claim the title this season and who will be relegated?
March 31, 2009: March Round-Up:
A relatively short edition this time now the league opener is only 3 days away. Víkingur and ÍF Fuglafjørður get the Vodafone Division underway on Friday evening.
March 29, 2009: The Super Cup:
HB Tórshavn beat champions EB/Streymur 3-1 in the Super Cup.
March 28, 2009: The Cup Competition:
The qualifying round for the Cup has been played today. MB Miðvágur vs. Skála has been postponed to Monday because of snow.
March 22, 2009: Friendly International, Iceland vs. Faroe Islands
For the first time ever, the Faroe Islands have beaten Iceland, as the Faroes win 2-1.
March 16, 2009: The Cup Competition:
The draw for the Cup competition was made today. HB Tórshavn and NSÍ Runavík are paired in the first round. Other encounters between teams from the Vodafone Division are AB Argir vs. B68 Toftir and KÍ Klaksvík vs. 07 Vestur.

February 28, 2009: February Round-Up:
A ton of news for you in this month’s roundup: The Formula Division changes name to the Vodafone Division. Goalkeeper Gunnar Nielsen joins Manchester City. New club Ravnur FC becomes the 23rd member of the Faroese Football Association. The F.A. pulls off a coup selling their TV rights to sports rights agency Kentaro. And loads of other news.
