July 16 - July 18, 2005: Round 17 of the Formula 1st Division:
HB Tórshavn come from 2-1 down to beat KÍ Klaksvík 3-2
July 16, 2005:
KÍ Klaksvík - HB Tórshavn 2-3 (0-0)
0-1 Tór-Ingar Akselsen 47'
1-1 Atli Danielsen (pen) 52'
2-1 Hjalgrím Elltør 72'
2-2 Hans á Lag 77'
2-3 Hans á Lag 81'
Fortunately for HB Tórshavn, style characters are not given in soccer, because then HB would have been heavily beaten against arch rivals KÍ Klaksvík, but only the goals count, and therefore HB won 3-2. It seams as if HB is playing less and less attractive soccer for every game that goes on, but as long as it is effective, they will probably stick to it.
No goals came in the first half, but it took HB only 2 minutes to get in front in the second half. Tróndur Vatnhamar, who had substituted Bárður Johannesen in goal because of an injury, cleared the ball up field all the way to Tór-Ingar Akselsen who headed the ball past the KÍ goalkeeper.
But KÍ equalized only 5 minutes later from a penalty. After a corner, the referee judged there had been a bit too much pushing in the penalty area and he blew his whistle. Atli Danielsen made no mistake from the spot.
27 minutes into the second half KÍ takes the lead. Careless defensive play provided Hjalgrím Elltør with the ball and he put KÍ up 2-1.
But 5 minutes later, HB is level again. HB have a freekick on the left and the ball is crossed into the KÍ penalty area and at the far post Hans á Lag heads the ball into the net.
Another 4 minutes later HB is in front again. And again it was Hans á Lag who scored the goal, this time with a diving header.
The other matches in round 17:
July 17, 2005:
VB Vágur seem to be out of their crisis after they beat TB Tvøroyri 5-1 in the “island-derby” in Suðuroy (South Island) today. VB have now won 3 out of their last 5 and drawn 1. TB on the other hand has not won in their last 8 and have only produced 2 draws in that period and that of course takes its toll on the table, where they are rooted to the bottom alongside KÍ Klaksvík, both with 14 points. TB’s best hope of rescue maybe lies in that out of their last 10 games, 7 of them will be on home soil, where they have only lost once this season. But draws are not going to be enough; they’ll have to get some three-pointers under their belt also.
Skála lost two crucial points at home to EB/Streymur today and had to surrender the top spot on the table to HB Tórshavn. This was EB/Streymur’s 8th draw of the season. EB/Streymur took the lead 10 minutes into the second half, but Skála equalized 18 minutes from time and piled on the pressure for a winner, but the closest they came was a shot on the crossbar.
ÍF Fuglajørður are also desperate for points as they are only 2 points from the bottom two and they believed those were on their way when they lead 1-0 over NSÍ Runavík at halftime. But two second half goals from NSÍ squandered that hope.
B36 Tórshavn play GÍ Gøta on Monday night.
