June 01 & 02, 2013:
Round 12 of the premier division "Effodeildin":
June 01
KÍ Klaksvík - B36 Tórshavn 0-2 (0-1)
0-1 Símun Joensen
0-2 Rasmus Dan Sørensen
B36 took the lead through left back Símun Joensen within four minutes from the start of the match with an excellent shot from the edge of the penalty area into the top corner.
KÍ, who looked tired from their semi-final on Wednesday, had opted to rest their top scorers Páll Klettskarð and Álvur Christiansen in the first half, but although they came on in the second half, it made little difference, and in the dying moments of the match, 18-year old forward Rasmus Dan Sørensen made the points safe for the visitors.
June 02
EB/Streymur - HB Tórshavn 2-0 (2-0)
1-0 Levi Hanssen
2-0 Leif Niclasen
HB’s unbeaten run of 11 matches came to an end as they were beaten by EB/Streymur who have come on strongly in recent games to climb to 3rd in the table after a terrible start to the season.
Although HB started much better and were getting towards the penalty area in the first quarter of an hour, the final delivery lacked quality - and perhaps imagination too - to really take advantage of the superiority in possession. At the other end EB/Streymur still looked dangerous on the counterattacks as they always do, and just seemed much sharper and more capable of scoring.
And EB/Streymur were to take the lead too, although not on a counterattack, but from a corner after half an hour where Levi Hanssen got the last touch of the ball which after a while decided to cross the goal-line.
Seven minutes later, EB/Streymur doubled their lead on a terrific counterattack where HB were left vulnerable as they had sent their defenders forward to a corner. EB/Streymur’s right back Gert Hansen received the ball on the left hand side in midfield and made a long shift to Hans Pauli Samuelsen on the right hand side to again put in a cross in front of goal where Hansen headed down to Leif Niclasen to poke it over the line.
HB started strongly again in the second half, but EB/Streymur were happy to soak up the pressure, as HB failed to create clear-cut scoring opportunities. The closest they came was midway through the half with a low drive from Alex dos Santos from 30 metres that hit the post with the keeper well beaten.
it was again quite evident today that HB’s strongest point is not the forwards, so sooner or later HB were going to be defeated, but because of their superiority in midfield, HB will always be able to power their way through and create chances that way, and after 27 matches, not too many defeats will be on their scorecard, and HB are still odds on favourites to claim the title as they still sit firm in first place, 7 points ahead of ÍF Fuglagjørður who they take on next on 16 June. But a win for ÍF there will shrink that gap to only 4 points, however.
But it the long run it’s maybe EB/Streymur that are the bigger threat to HB as they are the team that seems to have the sharpest attack, but unfortunately for them, the damage was made early in the season, and 9 points to make up in 15 games is a still a lot!
TB Tvøroyri - NSÍ Runavík 0-0
Having been well beaten in the 1st and 2nd round , TB Tvøroyri have only lost one game, and with another point today, TB seem quite safe for another season in the top flight, as 07 Vestur under the line in 9th place will need 9 points to overtake them. And in fact, TB are much closer to a European spot than they are in danger of relegation, although in the end, Europe is an unlikely end to the fairytale, however.
Just like the previous game this season between the two sides, also this one failed to produce a goal, and clear-cut scoring opportunities altogether were a rare occurrence.
AB Argir - Víkingur 3-1 (2-0)
1-0 Rógvi Poulsen
2-0 Rógvi Poulsen
2-1 Kaj Leo í Bartalsstovu
3-1 Bjartur Kjærbo
Hurrah for Víkingur who scored their first away goal this season, but their point-harvest is still a big round nil as they lost their fifth match on away-soil. But a louder hurrah for AB Argir who have finally won their first match of the season.
AB went 2-0 up midway through the first half with a brace from Rógvi Poulsen.
Víkingur brought back excitement into the game when Kaj Leo í Bartalsstovu pulled a goal back in the 72nd minute.
Víkingur then wasted a couple of great opportunities before Bjartur Kjærbo cemented AB’s first win when he made it 3-1 with five minutes remaining of normal time.
With a poor goal difference, AB will still need 11 points to climb over the relegation line.
AB have stated that if the situation is not completely hopeless when the transfer window opens, then they will spend money to strengthen the team.
07 Vestur - ÍF Fuglafjørður 1-3 (0-2)
0-1 Bogi R. Petersen
0-2 Clayton Soares
0-3 Hanus Thorleifsson
1-3 Jovan Radinovic-Panic
ÍF climbed to second in the standing with a comfortable victory over 07 Vestur who simply aren’t good enough for the top division.
ÍF had rattled the bar before Bogi R. Petersen gave them the lead in the 18th minute. Brazilian Clayton Soares then doubled the advantage five minutes before the break with his 6th goal of the season.
A few minutes from the end, midfielder Hanus Thorleifsson made it 3-0 before Serbian midfielder Jovan Radinovic-Panic scored a consolation goal for 07 Vestur in stoppage time.
