April 11 & 12, 2010: Round 03 of the Vodafone Division:
April 11
HB Tórshavn – AB Argir 2-1 (0-0) 1-0 Fróði Benjaminsen (pen) 2-0 Fróði Benjaminsen 2-1 Dion Splidt
AB had come to Gundadalur stadium to defend and they did that very well in the first half where they managed to drag the tempo out of the game and keep HB from scoring opportunities. Símun Samuelsen once hit the crossbar with a long range effort, but apart from that, HB had little.
But HB came storming out of the blocks in the second half and so nearly took the lead after just a minute when Símun Samuelsen found Levi Hanssen (or was it Rógvi Pouylsen) in front of goal, but Tórður Thomsen in the AB goal made an incredible one-handed save to deny HB.
HB had clearly decided to up the tempo in the second half, and 5 minutes through the half Símun Samuelsen speeded down the right hand side and got in front of the defender who floored Samuelsen just as he entered the penalty area. The referee was in no doubt and pointed to the penalty spot. Fróði Benjaminsen converted it coolly.
And before a quarter of an hour had been played of the second half, Benjaminsen had doubled HB’s advantage with his second goal of the match with an easy site-footer as HB took AB off guard with a quick taken free kick. Benjaminsen had started the match in central defence, but was moved forward to midfield in the second half.
AB then finally started to get forward and managed to pull a goal back on 73 minutes with a well placed low shot from Dion Splidt. Kenneth Jacobsen should have scored for AB in the previous attack when he had the goal at his mercy, but several defenders threw their body in front of the ball and in the end goalkeeper Marcin Dawid blocked the shot. But Dawid’s weakness is when comes out of his line, and it was a poor punch that in the end led to Splidt’s goal.
AB continued to press forward and put HB under heavy pressure in the last quarter of an hour and could easily have found the equalizer. Nikolai Eriksen was incredibly close when he broke into the penalty area, but his shot went into the sidenetting. Later Gunnar Haraldsen hit the crossbar with a header.
In the end, HB were not unlucky to take the 3 points. But had AB not played so cowardly in the first half with their defensive tactics, they could quite possibly have gotten something from the match, because when they finally did attack, HB looked really uncomfortable at defending.
B71 Sandoy - B36 Tórshavn 0-3 (0-1) 0-1 Fróði Clementsen 0-2 Róaldur Jacobsen 0-3 Christian R. Mouritsen
B36’s 100% record is still intact after their meeting with newly promoted B71 Sandoy. Around the half-hour mark, B36 were awarded a penalty, but goalkeeper Bárður Johannesen saved from Jákup á Borg.
But the joy didn´t last long for B71 as defender Fróði Clementsen headed B36 in front 5 minutes before halftime.
Róaldur Jacobsen doubled B36’s lead 10 minutes after the break before Christian Mouritsen made it 3-0 shortly before the final whistle.
Newly promoted FC Suðuroy managed to hold last season’s runners up from scoring in the first half, but in the second half EB/Streymur improved their play which paid dividend 10 minutes into the second half when striker Arnbjørn Hansen put the hosts on winning course. Hansen netted again a quarter of an hour later to seal victory.
The scoring opportunities were few and far between, but 10 minutes before the interval Víkingur broke the deadlock with a header from Bárður Hansen. In the dying moments Víkingur cemented victory with a penalty from Sam Jacobsen.
Víkingur go second in the table whie NSÍ are second from last and aren´t looking too good. The Europa League spot from last season might become difficult to hold on to this season.

B68 Toftir - ÍF Fuglafjørður 1-0 (1-0) 1-0 André Olsen
André Olsen's fine strike into the top corner midway through the first half was enough to earn B68 3 points and climb to 3rd spot in the table.
