August 24, 2008: Round 20 of the Formula Division:

(Note: Round 20 was played before round 19, as round 19 was postponed from 20 August to 27 August, as the Faroe Islands played against Portugal on 20 August)

B71 Sandoy - EB/Streymur 1-2 (1-0)
1-0 Símin Hansen
1-1 Arnbjørn Hansen
1-2 Egil á Bø

Símin Hansen, who was suspended last Sunday because of his 3rd red card of the season was back with a vengeance today and gave B71 the lead around the half-hour mark with a stunning hook from the distance that went in off the post behind a stunned goalkeeper Gunnar á Steig who deputized for René Tórgarð, who got his debut for the Faroe Islands against Portugal on Wednesday.

But EB/Streymur have the league top scorer Arnbjørn Hansen to draw upon, and just 6 minutes after the break Hansen had equalized with his 15th goal of the season after he had been played clear. And we still have 8 matches to go. The record is 24 goals in one season, achieved by Súni Fríði Barbá (former Johannesen) (B68) in 1995 and Uni Arge (HB) in 1997. The last 3 seasons the top scorer has scored 18 goals. Can Hansen reach 24?

Back to the match… Just about 5 minutes after Hansen's equalizer, Egil á Bø head EB/Streymur in front after a corner. Also Egil á Bø got his debut for the Faroe Islands on Wednesday, aged 34!

B71 pushed for the equalizer towards the end and nearly drew level, but the free kick hit the post-out.

With only 2 away-matches remaining in their program, EB/Streymur don´t have many hurdles left to get over, because at home, EB/Streymur have a 100% record.

B71 stay in 9th place, but nothing is decided in the bottom as B71 are only 3 points adrift of KÍ in 7th place.

B36 Tórshavn - Skála 2-1 (1-1)
0-1 Poul N. Poulsen
1-1 Klæmint Matras
2-1 Jákup á Borg

A crazy start to the match produced 2 goals in the first 3 minutes. Skála took the lead with a direct free kick from Poul N. Poulsen in the first minute, but B36 restored parity just a couple of minutes later with a penalty from Klæmint Matras. - His 5th goal of the season, 4th on penalty.

Matras thought the referee would award him another penalty midway through the 2nd half, but the referee turned appeals down. Matras then had a rush of blood to his had and retaliated and was given the red card for it.

However, with 10 men against 11, B36 still managed to get the winning goal just a few minutes later with a long range effort from newly returned Jákup á Borg.

With the 3 points B36 stay in 2nd place in the table, 8 points adrift of EB/Streymur, but with just 8 matches left, time is running out, even if EB/Streymur have struggled a bit since the summer break.

Skála are still 5 points adrift of ÍF in the crucial 8th place, but the points will have to start coming soon. But it will be difficult on Wednesday as they visit Tórshavn again, this time HB Tórshavn. But then Skála play KÍ (h), B71 (a), B68 (h), ÍF (a) and that's where Skála will fancy their chances.

KÍ Klaksvík - HB Tórshavn 0-0

KÍ celebrated their 104th year anniversary on this exact way. HB will celebrate their 104th anniversary in a few weeks, so it were two very old opponents that met today and therefore we'll excuse them for not being able to score a goal.

The match produced very few scoring opportunities, and 0-0 was probably the fairest result. This was the 7th goalless draw this season. Last season there were only 3.

For KÍ, the occasional draws don't help too much, because B71 and ÌF are only 3 and 1 points adrift of this former giant, KÍ. – But the giant has been sleeping for a long time. And really, maybe it's sleeping so sound that it won't wake up before it has been relegated…

ÍF Fuglafjørður - Víkingur 1-3 (1-1)
1-0 Owngoal
1-1 Zoltan Bukszegi
1-2 Hans Jørgen Djurhuus
1-3 Andreas Lava Olsen

ÍF suffered their 4th straight defeat since the league resumed after the summer break, and will find it very hard to stay up now.

Although they took the lead today, Víkingur were too strong in the end.

ÍF opened the scoring halfway through the first half. Nenad Saric did most of the hard work, but in the end it was an owngoal that gave ÍF the lead.

However, shortly before half time, Hungarian (who has sometimes been referred to as a polish player in recent weeks – but he is an Hungarian!) Zoltan Bukszegi equalized for Víkingur.

In the 2nd half, Hans Jørgen Djurhuus and Andreas Lava Olsen earned Víkingur the victory. Víkingur now haven´t lost since round 12, when they were defeated by B68, and have won 17 of possible 21 points in their last 7 matches.

B68 Toftir - NSÍ Runavík 0-1 (0-1)
0-1 Karoly Potemkin

B68 can't score goals at home, and then they can't expect to win too many football matches, of course. Their goal-scoring tally said 3 before today’s match, and it still says 3 after the match which NSÍ won 1-0.

Hungarian Karoly Potemkin scored on a rebound after the B68 keeper had saved the initial shot from Hjalgrím Elttør about 25 minutes into the first half. This was Potemkin’s first goal for NSÍ, after he switched from B36 in the summer.

In the 2nd half, NSÍ's central defender Johan Troest Davidsen was sent off, but held on. In fact, NSÍ should have won more as Potemkin missed at least 2 sitters.
